Enabling, Engaging and Enriching the community as a society of equals by creating opportunities for inclusion of persons with disability.
• Driving comprehensive inclusion of persons with disability in all the spheres of life starting from their families to society at large. • Promoting and Protecting the rights of person with disabilities and their families • Creating opportunities to lead a sustainable and respectful life and be a meaningful contributor to the society
In 1996 the trust opened a school for the hearing impaired children, who are neglected not only by the society even from their parents. The power, the backbone and the support to this venture has been provided by the Tatti family, the Manvi family and Mahajanshettar brothers. In the beginnings there were only 10 students but now there are more than two hundred hearing impaired children enjoying the learning in the school with all facilities including residence. This is the result of the hard work of three families.
Now our trust has been administrating –Pre-primary school for oral deaf education , Residential School for hearing impairment, Ek Prayas Program and Livelihood. This growth is the result of facilities provided by the management and their farsighted planning’s.
The man behind all these developments is our Hon. Secretary Shri. Somanath Mahajanashettar. His hard work his farsighted future plans and more over his honest efforts to bring the neglected generations to the main stream are inspiring. The growth of the institution is result of his dedication and determination. Our institution has achieved good results in all the fields because of the hardworking teachers, field staff and supporting staff. Their love towards those children and their sacrifice should be appreciated.
The attractive building in the green out skirt of the town with all facilities, the hostel and the dining hall, the well furnished classrooms, the library etc. all the basic needs have been provided by trust. With the support of the government, donors and society our secretary has been toiling hard for the development of the institution. The trustees dream and aimed to make it one of the most standard and model schools of Karnataka.
Because of all the above said evidence, our organization is here for working with the disables since 1996. We are located at rural part of north Karnataka with a peculiar cultural mix which is not suits to any other location in the state as well as out of the state. India in one way represents great, you know why because of born with problems, revert to this Shri. B D Tatti Annavaru Memorial Charitable Trust was born in the year 1996 with remedies for the problems in mother location. B D T has started its journey by the vision to create equal opportunities for persons with disability to become contributing members of society. The people who are involved in caring the disables and showing them to move into right direction are played a major role in contribution towards for their satisfaction. Beginning days of the institution has faced many critical situations but throughout the journey it struggled a lot in chase the challenge. It has great mission such as bringing the persons with disables to the main stream of society by creating barrier free environment and opportunities to lead their life competently. Institute has strictly following the vision and mission statement towards their development. By keeping the entire institutional context in the mind, every year reach through successful results of our tenth class students. Resulting this, today it reached 200 hearing impaired students from various district of the state.
As we coated earlier about the various programs of the organization, here just you can view the point percent of all programmes in the institute. Firstly, pre-primary school for oral deaf education. This program for those early indentified as deaf child and here this will impact as a prevention of deafness at early age and it is specialized programme for educating the mother, through mother educating to the child. We can call it as mother care centre. Second programme is residential school for hearing impaired. In this programme, we are using total communication such as mainly sign language, body language, and facial expression and required teaching materials to get clarity in the minds of our soundless students. During the year 2008, started community based rehabilitation with the aim of reaching the un-reach, through this programme we are working with two taluka (shirahatti and mundargi) of Gadag District. In this programme, we are working with four sectors such as therapy and mobility, inclusive education, advocacy and livelihood and training. Resulting to these sectors, every year it will increase the numbers of admission to the disability services, those who are not reached from any other persons and any other channels. Luckily our organization is located in the remote place of north Karnataka. We have a track record of evidence for issues of disability in this area, might be the climatic impact or might be the water impact plays a role in cause to the rural poor. Therefore, by the climatic impact the rural poor’s of north Karnataka peoples are facing various problems at early age in their day to day life. Present trend towards the care and helping to the cause in this area is very rare, we are very lucky to get help from Tata education trust for early detection and struggled to prevent in that age. Presently institution have got good reputation for the worth full contribution towards disables community in the working area.
At present looking into the program that is Primary intervention for 2-10 Years in Gadag District at 3 taluaka with the help of Biswa Gouri Charitable Trust as Technical Partner and IDFC First bank as funding partner . This is for the delayed development children of 2-10 years where all service will be given in the community based. This is specialized programme for newly born babies/children with Intellectual disabilities and Autism in the working area. The programme is efficient for those who detected early and get early benefitted. We undergone the screening process for early identification of children, those who identified through screening, assess the child for appliance and primary intervention and follow up for the same. Early education is the unique program for the disables who left or who perceive the education in the school. Mainly it educates the basic requirements for their day to day disability management and creating awareness about various schemes from the government and other organization. And since last year we have started Livelihood at Gadag District with help of Enable India.
