Sri B D Tatti (Annawaru) Memorial Charitable Trust, in collaboration with IDFC FIRST Bank, has launched a specialized Early Intervention and Primary Intervention Program designed to support children with delayed development, including those with intellectual disabilities (ID), autism, and other developmental delays. This program specifically targets children aged 2-12 years and provides a combination of community-based and center-based rehabilitation services.

Key Features of the Program:

  • Target Group
This program is designed for children aged 0-12 years who have been identified with developmental delays or disabilities, including intellectual disabilities (ID), autism, and other conditions. The initiative is especially effective for children who are detected early, allowing them to benefit from timely and appropriate interventions.
  • Early Identification and Screening
Early identification is a crucial component of the program. Screening is carried out in local communities by Aganwadi and Asha workers to identify children who may exhibit developmental delays or disabilities. Once identified, a detailed assessment is conducted based on the child’s case history, and parents are counseled to guide them in the next steps.
  • Assessment and Counseling
After the screening, children undergo a thorough assessment to create a customized rehabilitation plan. Parents receive counseling, helping them understand their child’s condition, the available therapies, and how they can best support their child’s development. This empowers families to make informed decisions about their child’s care and progress.
  • Admission to Ek Prayas Centre for Rehabilitation Therapy
Children who are identified and assessed are admitted to the Ek Prayas Centre, where they receive specialized rehabilitation therapies, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, and other necessary interventions. Ongoing follow-up ensures that the child’s progress is regularly monitored and adjustments are made to the rehabilitation plan as needed.
  • Early Education and Skill Development
The Early Education program provides children with essential daily living skills, including disability management, communication, and self-care. In addition to basic education, the program focuses on preparing children for integration into mainstream education when possible. It also addresses the needs of children who have been left out or are struggling in traditional educational settings.
  • Awareness of Government Schemes
As part of the program, families are educated about various government schemes and initiatives available for children with disabilities. This ensures that parents are aware of and can access the financial and support resources available to their children.
  • Community-Based Support
This program provides rehabilitation and education services both in the community and at the Ek Prayas Centre, ensuring that children receive continuous care. Community-based interventions promote inclusion, helping children thrive in their local environments while accessing the necessary rehabilitation services.

Benefits of the Program:

  • Timely Intervention: Early identification and intervention provide children with the best opportunity for developmental progress, improving their ability to integrate into society.
  • Improved Life Skills: The program focuses on life skills, disability management, and self-sufficiency, enhancing the overall quality of life for children with disabilities.
  • Parent Empowerment: Through counseling and education, parents are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to actively support their child’s development.
  • Inclusive Education: The program prepares children with disabilities to succeed in mainstream education and society, providing a brighter future for them.

With the support of IDFC FIRST Bank, this Early Intervention Program is able to make a significant difference in the lives of children with delayed development. By providing early and targeted rehabilitation services, the program empowers children and their families to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Ek Prayas Livelihood Centre:

With the support of IDFC FIRST Bank, Sri B D Tatti (Annawaru) Memorial Charitable Trust has successfully launched a Jute Bag Production Program at the Ek Prayas Centre.
