This program is the dream program of our chairman and Son. Secretary of the organization. It was begins with 10 student only during the time of establishment. Presently we have 200+ student with HI are studying happily. Here, in this program we have sufficient infrastructure to all respective classes and using total communication for the benefit of deaf students to get clarify form the teaching of various concepts. Use of technology and science labs would provide a very enriching learning environment. Early identification of hearing impairment, appropriate hearing aid programming audio-verbal therapy and continuous monitoring of student’s speech – language development to support education using audiology equipment and environment would bring innovations to teaching and learning.
Academics
184 students with hearing impairment studied in BDT Residential School for the academic year 2022-23. 24 students appeared for the school finals exams and secured 87.05% results. The student who scored the highest got 77% marks for the year 2022-23.
Sports
The children are regularly participating in yoga and various sports in the campus. At the crack of the dawn, Children play and practice running on the large field. They also do ‘yoga’ &an intense but quick practice session on the Mallakamba ensures that the expertise of the children is developed day after day. The positive impact of play, sports and yoga is evident as the children are now less immune to illness, have a healthy appetite, and have healthy growth indicators. Mallakamba helps to build confidence, courage and skill enhancement among children. Mallakamba, also known as pole gymnastics, is a traditional Indian sport in which a gymnast performs feats and poses with a vertical wooden pole or rope. Mallakhamba derives form the terms ‘Malla’ which means a wrestler and ‘kamba’ means pole.
