Sushravya Pre-primary School for Oral Deaf

Started in 2007-08the only centre in north Karnataka to provider deaf language training to hearing impaired children and their mothers. Children with hearing impairment, who are as young as six months to five years old, are enrolled in the school along with their mothers. Such exposure visits enthuses the children, and instills a positive energy and confidence in both mother and children.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES AT ‘SUSHARAVYA’

• Auditory training
• Hearing testing
• Oral deaf education training due to which children are able to talk the important basic words, communicate and understand most of daily use words. These include names of vegetables, flowers, names of festivals, music instruments; identify the source of sound during exerimriments etc.

During the year, a total of 21children (10 were boys and 11 were girls) studied in the course. Till date about 110 children have passed out from Susharavya pre-primary and mainstreamed in schools.
